About the names

21,637 children are named in the Gaza Ministry of Health named list, as of 7 May 2026. Every garment we make carries one of these names.

One named child. One garment. Never again. One Child makes memorial garments so that each of these children is remembered by name, not as a number. We stand with the people of Palestine.

Where the names come from

Source: Gaza Ministry of Health named list, as of 7 May 2026. We use the list as of that date. We do not add to it, remove from it or change it.

How the names are written

• Names are printed as they appear in the published list. We do not change the spelling.
• The English name is printed in capitals, followed by the child's age: "AGED 7", for example. A child who was under one year old is shown as "UNDER 1".
• The Arabic name is printed beneath, from right to left, as it appears in the list.
• Long names are printed a little smaller, or over two lines, so that every name fits in full.

The reference number

Each child has a reference number from 1 to 21,637, in the order of the list. It helps you find a name. It is never printed on the garment.

One child, one garment

Each child's name is printed once only. When a garment is ordered, that child cannot be chosen again. We keep a permanent record so that no name is ever printed twice.

We show only the name, age and Arabic name. We do not show or use any other details from the list.
